The Rumba Kings

The Rumba Kings

Saturday, September 27 @ 6:00PMSat, Sep 27 @ 6:00PM

Mainstage Theatre, 216 Union Street, Seattle

Despite their name, The Rumba Kings are far more than a rumba band. While their sound includes influences reminiscent of the Gipsy Kings, their music transcends genres, blending elements of romance, passion, and soul. At the heart of their show is a breathtaking fusion of Spanish guitar, a string quartet, and an array of other instruments. Adding to the magic, guest vocalists appear at times in the performance, enriching the experience. A dancer, seamlessly integrated into select musical segments, brings the music to life with movements inspired by the regions reflected in the songs.

The Rumba Kings’ signature Spanish guitar-driven sound is complemented by a captivating stage presence. Lead guitarist George Stevens electrifies the audience, blending masterful musicianship with engaging showmanship—sometimes even stepping into the crowd to share the energy up close. The performance flows effortlessly from mesmerizing slow, dreamy, and passionate instrumentals to exhilarating dance numbers, evoking the essence of world-class acts like Yanni and the Gipsy Kings.

For 2025, the band has reimagined their show, introducing fresh setlists, new music, guest vocalists, dancers, and cultural elements. Musical Director Johnny Bacolas describes the new production as akin to a Vegas-style spectacle, featuring a variety of musical styles, beautiful show segments, an emotionally-impacting musical experience, and top-tier guest musicians. It’s common for The Rumba Kings to receive standing ovations after their performances. Bacolas says about this, “it’s the ultimate honor when the audience gives us standing ovations. It makes us feel like we’ve done our job right.”
